Marilyn Monroe in Bendigo

Bendigo Art Gallery and Twentieth Century Fox present Marilyn Monroe in a world first exhibition from the 5th of March to the 10th of July 2016. The comprehensive collection moulds together iconic and personal items of Monroe depicting her complex life experiences.

Marilyn Monroe Monroe is still seen as one of the most celebrated, while mysterious, film stars in history. Her beautiful white blonde locks paired with her hourglass figure has endlessly been idolised by men and women alike. While most knew her as Marilyn Monroe, she was born Norma Jean which led to many names to follow. Many women wanted to be her and men dreamt of dating her, but most love the transformation from the ordinary girl next door into the glamorous film star.

The Marilyn Monroe Exhibit The exhibition has an astonishing combined private collection from around the world depicting Marilyn’s life in the limelight and behind the scenes of her private life. Embrace the images, film clips, costumes and even personal garments which tell her story. Twentieth Century Fox has even allowed unique access to the wardrobe test photographs, lobby cards and film posters from 12 of Marilyn’s films done with the studio. Making her appearance for the first time outside of the United states, the Forever Marilyn statue weighs 15 tonnes and stands eight meters high overlooking Rosalind Park. The Bendigo Art Gallery has even incorporated Marilyn Monroe wallpaper throughout the showcase.
