Autumn School Holiday Ideas

Road Trips:

  • Sydney to South Coast Head down the winding roads south of Sydney to some truly spectacular coastal destinations. From Wollongong to Merimbula there are plenty of beautiful stops along the way. Check out Kiama Beach and Budderoo National Park with forests, rivers and gorgeous waterfalls. Take a look at other amazing short break ideas in South Coast NSW.
  • Sydney to BrisbaneIf you’re heading north, the long car journey can be eased with some amazing stops along the way. Make a rest stop at Port Macquarie and enjoy the stunning Lighthouse Beach. Don’t forget to visit the cute koalas at Billabong Zoo. There are over 80 species of reptiles, mammals and birds, some of which you can hold, or pat.

 

Weekends:

  • WollongongWhether you’re driving or walking along the Sea Cliff Bridge on Grand Pacific Drive you’ll be amazed at the bridge overhanging the Pacific Ocean. Make sure you enjoy a meal and the view from up top at the Scarborough Hotel afterwards.
  • Jamberoo Action ParkWith as much fun as you can handle, you really do “control the action” at this water park. Be prepared to get wet and have a lot of laughs.
  • Sydney Activities – If you want to stay closer to home during the Easter Holidays Sydney has lots of family activities to enjoy. Climb in the trees at Taronga Zoo with a high ropes course, flying foxes and climbing walls for kids aged 3 and up. After they’ve been monkeying around, make sure you get a seat at the daily shows and keeper talks.

Winter School Holiday Ideas

Road Trips:

  • Blue Mountains – Find yourself in the company of the gigantic Blue Mountains, just a two-hour drive from Sydney. Scenic World has a cable car, Skyway, and the world-famous Scenic Railway – all of which will provide fun experiences for kids. Take your friends along and don’t forget to take a group selfie with The Three Sisters. If you’re feeling adventurous, visit the local town, Blackheath and Jenolan Caves.
  • Bathurst – Enjoy a family weekend away to Bathurst where everyone can experience the Bathurst Winter Festival. Kids will love the gigantic ice rink, Enchanted Forest and interactive illuminations that light up winter.

Weekends:

  • Whale Watching – Winter is the best time to spot majestic whales. Check it off your bucket list with whale watching cruises available across Sydney.
  • Sydney Opera House – Check the shows ahead of time and secure a seat for a children’s theatre, comedy, dance, live music and much more.
  • Darling Harbour – There’s plenty happening with the Sydney Aquarium, IMAX Theatre, Harbourside Shopping Centre, Madame Tussauds and so much more; you won’t be able to squeeze it all in one day.

School Holiday Ideas

Road Trips:

  • Wagga Wagga – Plan a family road trip using our ideas for a weekend in Wagga Wagga. If you are up for some outdoor adventure check out Pomingalarna Reserve’s 13-kilometre mountain bike course. The tracks are also perfect for bushwalking. There are countless beautiful nature tracks, playgrounds and a zoo at Wagga Wagga Botanical Gardens. After exploring in nature, head to Murrumbidgee River with a kayak or paddle board to cool off.
  • Dubbo Zoo – As weather sits comfortably in the mid-20s Spring is the perfect time to visit Dubbo. Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Dubbo is renowned for its open range exhibits with over 4,000 animals. With bike and cart hire options you can explore all the wild experiences on offer.

 

Weekends: 

  • Sydney Tower Eye – Climb up to the observation deck where you have 360 degrees view of the gorgeous city. Summer Holiday Ideas

Road Trips:

  • Sydney to Melbourne – Take the longer coastal route for a truly memorable experience. From Wollongong to Batemans Bay, you and the kids can enjoy swimming, fishing, boating or Mogo Zoo. Through to Eden and Lakes Entrance you’ll be treated to scenic beaches and the surrounding National Parks, perfect for bushwalking. Try a little rock climbing at Forster before arriving in Melbourne where the city and surrounding suburbs provide endless activities to choose from.
  • Sydney to Newcastle – For a short road trip where you feel like you’re on holiday Newcastle is your destination. Just two hours north of Sydney you are treated to golden sandy beaches, water sports and an abundance of shops and restaurants.

 

Weekends:

  • Surf School – Try getting up on a surfboard at a number of the best surf spots in NSW. You don’t have to be a pro surfer to give it a go, lessons are available for learners.
  • Splasher’s Water Playground – Sydney Olympic Park, Aquatic Centre has an indoor splash and slide playground suitable for all year round. If you want to cool off and stay out of the sun at the same time, look no further, with slides that will keep the kids entertained for hours. You will not be short of entertainment at Olympic Park.
